Like me, you probably connect the passion for art with the appreciation of beautiful surroundings, good atmosphere and delicious food.
Even though my home is in Spain, being Danish and knowing that I have a lot of Danish people visiting my web site, I would like to start out recommending a visit to the restaurant “Gourmet Gaarden” in Stege owned by Henrik Bayer and his wife Lina. Henrik has been a chef in some of the best restaurants in Denmark and has finally decided to open his own establishment, which in my opinion was a very good choice. The food is absolutely delicious, the service very friendly and the interior of the restaurant very cosy, or as we say in Danish “meget hyggelig”. Make sure you book a table in advance, as I am not the only one who has discovered Henrik’s talent. Please check out the web site at www.gourmetgaarden.com
The second one, Restaurante Roca Tranquila, situated in Torreblanca just outside Fuengirola, is an old cortijo which the architect Anders Dyrup has restored with a result second to none. One simply feel like being transferred back to the 18th century surrounded by this sumptuous interior design. Combined with some of the best food I have ever tried, visiting the restaurant is an awesome experience which I told everybody about right from the opening. One of the persons, a food critic, wrote me this message after having been there the first time. “I cannot thank you enough for recommending what I consider to be one of the finest restaurants I have ever visited” For further information go to www.rocatranquila.es
The third is a small hotel called Casa Pala Ciega tugged away in Berja, Almeria which belongs to Abdeslam El Baz. Elbaz, as most people call him, opened a take away business in Denmark in 1966 and two years later he opened a restaurant serving Moroccan food, which in those days was quite new to the Danish public, but soon became a huge success. In fact the Danish media could not praise his food enough. However, Elbaz decided a few years ago to fulfil his dream of becoming a hotelier and bought a house, or better described a ruin, which he has turned into a small piece of heaven decorated in a typical Moroccan style. In the restaurant you have the choice of a delicious international menu, but many guests choose to try the Moroccan speciality Tangine which really tickles the taste buds. Having become an actress – or to be more precisely – playing a tiny part in a great film, I would like to spread the word about Michael Naylor’s huge talent as a director and producer. More or less growing up in the Danish film company Nordisk Film, I was taught how to look out for details that you normally do not discover watching a film and I must admit I was pretty impressed with Michael’s first attempt. Hopefully we will soon see another, but meanwhile you can get more information about “Black forest gateau” and Michael Naylor at www.wrinklyfilm.com
Being able to share my passion for art with Kisser Teller Bjerregaard, an enthusiastic and creative Danish woman, is certainly an experience I appreciate very much. Even though you might not understand Danish, have a look at her website www.webmother.dk and discover some great paintings. | |||||
